Chapter updates, volunteer & job opportunities

Thank you to everyone who attended our mixer at Border X Brewing. We had an opportunity to meet new board members and local journalists who are killing it! Next event will be in September, so make sure you keep an eye on your email.

Volunteer opportunities with our new committees

We recently created new committees to support our board and create more opportunities for our members. The committees require a commitment of one meeting a month and around 5-7 hours of work a month. Email nahjsandiego(at)gmail.com to learn more or join.

The Membership and Recruiting Committee is tasked with building connections with newsrooms and local journalists. They are planning ways to highlight the work of members and get more people to join NAHJ.

The Events Committee aka party people committee is tasked with organizing fun and educational events for our members. They will work on building relationships with venues and business owners.

The Communications Committee will focus on newsletters, website and social media communication with members. They will make sure information is updated on line and engage with members and prospective members.

The Scholarship Committee is our oldest and most active committee. This committee is in charge of fundraising, planning and organizing our annual scholarship. This committee required a commitment of at least 10 hours a month.
