Journalism Training Opportunity in New Orleans; Deadline for Financial Assistance July 17th
Hi guys!
I wanted to let you know about a two-day training event in New Orleans for journalists who cover health stories. It’s called “Families USA National Health Policy Journalist Training.” The training focuses on health policy issues and features workshops that address the needs and challenges of health care journalists.
The training is September 25-26th at the New Orleans Marriott at 555 Canal Street.
Families USA is offering fellowships to journalists in need of financial assistance.
Deadline to apply is July 17th, 2014. Click here to apply and here to learn more about the training.
I attended the National Health Policy training in 2010, and it was a great learning experience for me. I got a chance to meet print and TV journalists from all over the country, party on Bourbon Street and eat beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Walking through the French Quarter is amazing, and listening to jazz music is a must while you’re in town!
When I got back I did a story on KGTV on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina five years after the hurricane. You can check it out below.
See you in San Antonio! #NAHJ14SA
